Compact Refrigerators

Refrigerators that are over 15 years old cost far more to operate than new, ENERGY STARĀ® certified refrigerators. When selecting a refrigerator, avoid oversized models, as larger refrigerators will generally require more electricity than smaller models to keep the interior cool. Finally, pay attention to the refrigerant used in the appliance. Some refrigerants will contribute more to global warming than others if released into the atmosphere. Look for appliances that use R-600a or R-441a, as those will have a lower impact on the environment.

P.S. When setting the temperature of a refrigerator, the ideal temperature will be from 35 to 38 degress Fahrenheit.
