Freezers

When considering a purchase, select a freezer that will have sufficient interior space, but not be oversized, as a larger freezer will require more electricity to cool the interior than a smaller freezer. If floor space is not an issue, a chest freezer may be a better choice than an upright freezer because the door opens from the top (instead of the front), so less cold air escapes when food is being added or removed. And, for models with manual defrost, as there is less air circulating inside the freezer, freezer burn and ice crystals are kept to a minimum.
